MIWLA 2024 Refund Policy

 

I. Membership Fees

Membership Fees are non-refundable.

II. Conference & Workshop Registration Fees

A. Fall Conference Registration Fee

1. If canceled for any reason on or before October 1, 2024 the Conference Registration Fee will be refunded, minus a $25 cancellation fee. ($70 refund)

2. If canceled for any reason, other than those specifically listed in section II.5. below, after October 1, 2024, no refund will be issued.

3. In the event that MIWLA cancels the 2024 conference, all registration fees paid will be refunded to those registered for the conference.

4. In the event a member is unable to attend the conference due to an unforeseen family emergency (death in the immediate family or serious illness/injury of an immediate family member) no refund will be issued; however, the amount of the registration fee paid will be applied to the member’s 2025 conference registration fee. If the amount of the 2025 conference registration fee is greater than that of the 2024 conference registration fee the member will be responsible for the difference.

5. A written notice of cancellation must be sent to the MIWLA Executive Treasurer, Catherine Savone, for any refund request to be considered.  Send notice of cancellation to treasurer@miwla.org or to Michigan World Language Association, ATTN: Catherine Savone, Executive Treasurer, 2850 Augusta Dr., Commerce Twp, MI 48382.

B. Fall Conference Workshop Fees

    1. If a registrant wishes to cancel registration for a 3-hour workshop for any reason on or before October 1, 2024 the individual workshop fee will be refunded, minus a $10 cancellation fee per workshop cancelled. ($25 refund per workshop.)
    2. If a registrant wishes to cancel registration for a 3-hour workshop for any reason after October 1, 2024 no refund will be issued.
    3. If an individual has registered for two workshops occurring at the same time, the fees paid for one of those workshops will be refunded or the individual may substitute one workshop for another in a different time slot.
    4. If MIWLA cancels a workshop from the conference program, the workshop fee will be refunded to all participants enrolled in the workshop.
    5. One workshop may be substituted for another at no charge, provided there is space available in the requested workshop.

     

    III. Exhibitor Fees

      1. If an exhibitor cancels in writing, and the notice of cancellation is received on or before July 15, 2024, a full refund will be issued minus a $50 cancellation fee.
      2. If an exhibitor cancels in writing, and the notice of cancellation is received after July 15, 2024, but on or before September 1, 2024, no refund will be issued, however the exhibitor may opt to have their fees applied to their 2025 MIWLA Conference Exhibitor Fees, minus a $50 cancellation fee.
      3. If an exhibitor cancels in writing, and the cancellation is received after September 1, 2024, no refund will be issued nor will any portion of fees paid be applied to future MIWLA conference registrations.
      4.     Special Needs

    MIWLA will work with conference participants to assist  in the accommodation of any special needs request. In order for MIWLA to be of assistance, persons with  disabilities who require special assistance must advise MIWLA  no later than October 1, 2024. A request for special needs should include complete contact information including a daytime phone number and e-mail address. MIWLA will attempt to respond to requests received after the October 1, 2024 deadline, but cannot guarantee that late requests can be accommodated. MIWLA will provide all reasonable resources that are available.
