Grant Application Forms

Do you need funding to attend the MIWLA Conference? Apply for a Conference Attendance Grant of up to $175. Grants cover membership, conference registration, one workshop, and some travel expenses. They may be awarded to new, experienced, and pre-service or student teachers.

Do you have a great teaching idea, but need funding to make it happen? Apply for a Charles H. Ahnert Instructional Grant. Grants can be up to $500 to support innovative teaching and learning in the classroom.

Do you want to advocate for languages on a national level? Apply for the Language Advocate Grant which supports attendance of one MIWLA member at JNCL-NICLS’ Language Advocacy Days in Washington, D.C. The date for the Language Advocacy Dates in 2024 will be announced shortly.

MIWLA members* can apply for a Charles H. Ahnert Instructional Grant to support innovative teaching and learning in the classroom.

Conference Attendance Grants

MIWLA offers conference attendance grants for pre-service and student teachers, new teachers, and experienced teachers with 5 years’ experience or more. These grants support and introduce aspiring and experienced world language teachers to the professional development opportunities and services offered at the annual MIWLA conference.

MIWLA Language Advocate Grant

The MIWLA Language Advocate Grant supports the attendance of one MIWLA member* at JNCL-NICLS’ Language Advocacy Day in Washington, D.C. each February. This event brings together delegates from around the country to brief them on federal legislation affecting language education and the language enterprise, and arranges meetings with their Senators and congressional Representatives on Capitol Hill to advocate for this legislation.More information on JNCL-NICLS Language Advocacy Day.
